Minneapolis and St. Paul Drug Crimes Lawyers
Drug arrests are very fact-oriented. For example, each of the following questions can produce vital information in challenging the admissibility of evidence obtained by law enforcement: What drug were you charged with possessing or distributing? Marijuana? Methamphetamine? Cocaine? Mushrooms? Where were you when you were arrested? What amount of the alleged drug were you alleged to have possessed? Our years of experience--and outstanding record of suppressions and dismissals gained at the bar--can be of great benefit when these questions are answered and we analyze your specific set of facts.
The Adkins Law Group understands the law and knows how to protect your rights from being violated by law enforcement and prosecution. We have answers to your questions. We are ready to provide you with aggressive defense. Contact us 24 hours a day at 612-355-2787 for a free initial consultation. We handle cases in both Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Accomplished Representation on Your Side
Our attorneys understand the fears associated with drug charges. Turning to us in your time of crisis ensures you will have the powerful representation tailored to your specific case.
Drug crime cases are based in fact. We work with you to get the whole story. Often, the best defense is in the details.
- Were you made aware of you constitutional rights?
- Were the correct search and seizure procedures followed?
- Was there a proper chain of custody for the evidence seized?
We have a strong record of achieving successful acquittals, dismissals and reduced sentences.
Minnesota Drug Crimes
Minnesota has five degrees of drug crimes, with a first degree drug crime being the most serious. The seriousness of a crime is determined by:
- Type of drug (meth, marijuana, cocaine, prescription drugs, etc.)
- Total weight or dosage of the drug
- Location where the crime took place (school, park, etc.)
Sentencing can be harsh ranging from attending a drug education class to forty years in jail. Fines begin at $200 and go up to a million dollars. If convicted, you may also be subject to losing vehicles and other property (forfeiture).
Federal Drug Charges
Federal charges, such as carrying drugs across state lines, are prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney. The consequences for federal crimes are much more severe, resulting in lengthy prison time and large fines. Our attorneys represent clients in State and Federal courts.
